I’ve photographed many eclipses over the course of my career, but none were more special than this one. Partly because of the nature of the image itself, and partly because of the circumstances of this entire year.

2022 has been a year of constant change, perhaps one of the most trying years that I have experienced in life thus far. Constant change and uncertainty brought on a range of negative emotions, creative drought, and anxiety. But through all of it I kept pushing further into what it means to be an artist. I’ve never been more proud of the evolution of my artistic vision than I am in the moment.

As time ticks away slowly on our existence, we can often feel the Shadows of Our Former Selves depart. Leaving us to rise up and out of the darkness, so we can burn brighter than ever before.
